Ex-Panthers Player Reveals Why the Maple Leafs Will Beat the Panthers and Why they May Win the Cup

Ex-Panthers defenseman Brandon Montour revealed a key reason why the Leafs are having success against the Panthers in comparison to their 2023 series and why they may win it all.While the addition of Montour would have given the Leafs a dynamic offensive defenseman to help Morgan Rielly, there were other factors that outweighed the chance to play for the Leafs as the Stanley Cup Champion reiterated during his appearance on Friday’s ‘Leafs Morning Take’ as he discussed the Leafs and Panthers series with Jay Rosehill and Nick Alberga.
In discussing the series, Montour was asked what made the Panthers’ run to the Cup last season, where he revealed it is the same thing the Leafs have been able to do this year.
“We could play all 4 lines, all 6 D. No matter who was out there, you were going to create something. I think Toronto has more of that this year.”
That depth will be tested over the weekend as the series shifts to Florida for Games 3 and 4 where the Panthers will be able to control the line matchups. The Cats already took home Game 3 to narrow the series to a 2-1 lead for the Leafs, and it will be up to the Leafs whether they take a 3-1 lead home to Toronto, or come away from this weekend with the series knotted up at 2-2.
