SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The first phase of Delta Center renovations wrapped up ahead of the Utah Jazz’s first preseason home game, according to team officials.
The Delta Center underwent extensive renovations over the summer, with plans in place for two additional phases of construction over the next several years.
The purpose of the renovations is to better accommodate both the Utah Jazz and the state’s new professional hockey team, the Utah Mammoth.

The first phase of construction focused on lengthening the arena bowl and working on a retractable seating system, according to the Smith Entertainment Group’s previous announcement.
Utah Jazz officials released a full update on the renovations ahead of Monday’s preseason game, saying the arena was raised by two feet and the center now has “the steepest sightlines of any dual-sport arena in professional sports.”
Several changes were also made to the angle and layout of the arena’s seating, along with new floor-level seats behind the baskets.
Future phases include plans to build a parking garage, a new main entrance, and an outdoor plaza. By the end of the third phase, officials anticipate the center’s capacity will increase by hundreds of new seats, allowing for a total of about 19,000 basketball fans.
