The Columbus Blue Jackets are coming off a win as they host the New Jersey Devils in their home opener Monday night at Nationwide Arena.

The Columbus Blue Jackets (1-1-0, 2 points) secured a split on their season-opening two-game road trip and return home on Monday night to host the New Jersey Devils (1-1-0, 2 points) at Nationwide Arena. New Jersey closes out a three-game road trip to open the season and comes off its first victory of 2025. The Devils won’t have veteran wing Evgenii Dadonov, who injured his hand on Thursday and didn’t play on Saturday. The Blue Jackets look to snap a five-year postseason drought after missing the playoffs by just two points in 2024-25.

Kirill Marchenko’s hat trick helped lift Columbus to a 7-4 road win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. Marchenko’s second goal with 1:12 left in the second period gave the Blue Jackets the lead back at 3-2, before they erupted for four third period markers. Elvis Merzļikins stopped a ton of rubber, making 48 saves. Miles Wood, Zach Werenski, Adam Fantilli and captain Boone Jenner also scored in the victory.

Connor Brown scored twice as New Jersey opened a 3-0 first period lead and held off the Tampa Bay Lightning for a 5-3 road win on Saturday night. Captain Nico Hischier added a goal and an assist, while Timo Meyer and Jesper Bratt also lit the lamp, with Bratt’s tally coming on the penalty kill early in the third period.

Monday marks the first meeting between the Metropolitan Division rivals. Bratt and Brown come in with two goals each, while Luke Hughes has four assists in two games. The three goals on Saturday were the first of the season for Marchenko, while Werenski, Jenner and Dmitri Voronkov each enter play on Monday with a goal and two helpers.
