The Detroit Red Wings went from third-period deflation to final-minute elation on Monday.

The Red Wings squandered a two-goal lead, but Mason Appleton scored with 44 seconds remaining in the third period to lift them to a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena and a sweep of the home-and-home series.
