PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Flyers held its home opener Monday night.

The Flyers hosted the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.

Heading into the night, the Panthers were on a three-game winning streak.

The Flyers defeated Florida 5–2.

Sean Couturier scored two goals and had two assists. His second goal broke a 2–2 tie and gave the Flyers the lead.

The Flyers honored late Hall of Fame goaltender Bernie Parent before the game. The team painted a “No. 1” behind both goals and will wear a “1” patch in his memory.
