The Calgary Flames hope to avoid three losses in a row when they host their division rival in the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.
The Calgary Flames look for their first home win of the season when they host the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night. Calgary is trying to avoid losing three in a row tonight after losing back-to-back games against Vancouver and St. Louis. Whatever happens in this game, the Golden Knights are probably just hoping that the game ends in regulation. Vegas’ first three games of the season have either ended in overtime or in a shootout. They’ve only won one of those games in an overtime win against the San Jose Sharks. The Golden Knights are trying to bounce back from an overtime 2-1 loss against the Seattle Kraken.
The Flames are trying to end a three-year playoff drought, while Vegas is looking to build off a conference semifinals loss to the eventual Western Conference champs in the Edmonton Oilers. This is still one of the most successful expansion franchises ever, making it to the playoffs in seven of their first eight seasons in existence.

Offense was difficult to find for both Vegas and Seattle on Saturday, as the Golden Knights still lost despite outshooting the Kraken 27-22. Seattle scored the first goal of the game in the second period on a power play goal by Matty Beniers. Vegas got revenge on the power play, scoring early in the third on a Pavel Dorofeyev goal to even the game. That goal would prove to send the game to overtime. It looked like Vegas was heading to another shootout, but Seattle’s Jared McCann ended that notion, scoring the game-winner with just 3.8 seconds left in overtime. The Golden Knights will get back home for a three-game homestand after this division game.
Calgary was looking good early in its last game against St. Louis, but ultimately the Flames dropped 4-2 on Saturday. Matt Coronato scored the lone goal of the first period, which was the first goal of the game. Jack Neighbors scored the first goal for St. Louis, and he would prove to be a pain in the Flames’ side later on. The Blues scored back-to-back goals, but Coronato would score his second goal of the game to tie it 2-2 at the end of the second. His response was quick because Coronato scored again just 32 seconds after Calgary. But St. Louis would get the last laugh scoring two goals, with Neighbors scoring again to earn the first star of the game. The competition doesn’t get any easier tonight for the Flames.
