The New Jersey Devils‘ social media team flipped the script after spoiling the Columbus Blue Jackets‘ home opener on Oct. 13 with a joke on social media referencing a famous Ohio State Marching Band tradition.
After beating the Blue Jackets 3-2 at Nationwide Arena, the Devils’ social media team poked fun at the Blue Jackets, referencing “Script Ohio” in a post on X.
The post shows a sped-up version of the Ohio State Marching Band performing its “Script Ohio” routine with a Blue Jackets’ logo over the drum major and an “L” over the sousaphone player dotting the “i.”
The Devils’ social media team used TBDBITL’s own slogan in the caption, writing “a tradition unLike any other” with the L in unlike capitalized to emphasize Columbus’ loss.
Not all Blue Jackets or Ohio State fans were pleased with the “Script Ohio” reference, taking to the comments to express their displeasure.
You do understand that’s football, not hockey, right?

How about we take the best college football team from Ohio and have them play the best college team from New Jersey? That sounds fun.

Some commenters challenged the appropriateness of using “Script Ohio,” given that Ohio State holds a 10-game winning streak against the Big Ten’s New Jersey-based team, Rutgers.
Ohio State football plays Rutgers on Nov. 22.
