The Devils take the ice for the first time tonight as they get set to host the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Thursday night at the Prudential Center.

Despite a 2-1 finish on a short road trip to start the regular season, all the news surrounding the team is injury related, with the headline being starting goalie Jacob Markstrom out multiple weeks with a lower-body injury he suffered on Monday evening.

Markstrom’s injury adds to the laundry list of players currently banged up on the team that include Evgenii Dadonov, Johnathan Kovacevic, Stefan Nosen and Seamus Casey.

Thursday marks the first of three games against the Panthers this season for the Devils, with the next meeting coming on Nov. 20 in Sunrise, Florida and the final regular season head-to-head matchup towards the later stages of the regular season on March 3 at the Prudential Center.
