Toronto Maple Leafs

Maple Leafs forward William Nylander was not on the ice at the club’s morning skate ahead of Thursday’s home contest with the New York Rangers.

Head coach Craig Berube said Nylander missed practice due to maintenance and is good to go tonight.

Steven Lorentz, who has missed hte past two games due to an upper-body injury, skated alongside Matias Maccelli and John Tavares in Nylander’s spot. Berube adds that Lorentz is available to play but will be a healthy scratch.

Nylander, 29, has two goals and five assists through five games this season, the third-highest point total in the NHL. He recorded a goal and two assists in Tuesday’s 7-4 win over the Nashville Predators.

The 11-year veteran scored a career-highi 45 goals last season to go along with 84 points in 82 games. He has 264 goals and 619 points in 689 career games since being drafted byy the Leafs eighth overall in the 2014 NHL Draft.

The Ottawa Senators have recalled forward Arthur Kaliyev from the AHL’s Belleville Senators, TSN’s Claire Hanna reports.

The 24-year-old has two assists in two AHL games this season.

Kaliyev signed a one-year, $775K contract with the Senators this past offseason after spending last season with the New York Rangers organization, where he scored three goals and four points in 14 NHL games.

He was originally selected 33rd overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2019 NHL Draft and has tallied 38 goals and 75 points across 202 NHL games.

Montreal Canadiens

The team announced that defenceman Jayden Struble will make his season debut tonight as the Habs battle the Nashville Predators. Arber Xhekaj will be a healthy scratch.

Jakub Dobes will also be in net for his second start of the season.

Dobes stopped 30 of 31 shots in his only other start this season, a 5-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Starter Samuel Montembeault has started the other thre games of the season, going 2-1-0 with an .870 save percentage and 2.97 goals-against average.

Struble recorded two goals and 13 points in 56 games last season.

Samuel Ersson will start tonight against the Winnipeg Jets.

Ersson allowed four goals on 39 shots in his first start against the Carolina Curricanes on Oct. 11.

Columbus Blue Jackets

Goaltneder Elvis Merzlikins will get the start on Thursday. He earned the win in his only other start this season, allowing four goals on 52 shots in a victory over the Minnesota Wild.

Forward Yegor Chinakov will make his season debut Thursday in place of the injured Miles Wood. It will be his first action of the season after requesting a trade over the summer.

Washingon Capitals

Capitals forward Pierre-Luc Dubois did not practice Thursday after missing Tuesday’s game due to a lower-body injury. He is listed as day-to-day.

Dubois does not have a point in three games this season.
