The Nashville Predators continue their road trip on Oct. 16, visiting the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre.

The Predators are coming off a 7-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 14. Toronto had three players record three-point nights, including forward William Nylander, who led the Maple Leafs with four shots. Justus Annunen made his season debut for Nashville, making 21 saves in the loss.

The loss featured an early trend for Nashville: the Predators went 0-for-2 on the power play against Toronto and are now 1-for-17 on the season with the man advantage. The lone power play goal came on opening night from Ryan O’Reilly. Since then, the unit has been unable to generate any kind of threat, ranking third worst in the league with a 5.9% success rate.

Montreal (3-1-0, 6 points) beat the Seattle Kraken 5-4 on Oct. 14 behind Cole Caufield’s two goals. The Canadiens have started off hot, scoring 15 goals in their first four games. Center Nick Suzuki leads Montreal with six assists and rookie Ivan Demidov has a goal and two assists.

The Predators will likely start Juuse Saros in net, while the Canadiens should go with Sam Montembeault.

Nashville drew an early penalty when Tyson Jost was called for hooking. That put the Canadiens’ 20th ranked power play on the ice, but the Predators’ seventh ranked penalty kill won the battle. Montreal managed two shots on the power play, but Saros stopped both.

The Predators’ penalty kill has been a strength through four games so far. That continued early tonight.

The Nashville Predators vs. Montreal Canadiens game will be televised by FanDuel Sports Network South with streaming available via FUBO and ESPN+ (outside of the Nashville TV market).
