Vancouver Canucks organization adds former NCAA defenseman via trade

In a post on their website, the Kalamazoo Wings announced that they’ve acquired 6’3″, 205 pound defenseman Ryan Dickinson from the Worcester Railers in exchange for future considerations, while fellow defenseman Jayden Lee has been called up to the Abbotsford Canucks.

“The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced Wednesday that the Abbotsford Canucks (AHL) have recalled the loan defenseman Jayden Lee, and the team has acquired defenseman Ryan Dickinson from the Worcester Railers for future considerations.” the club said.

Dickinson, a native of Brighton, Michigan, spent one year with Ohio State University (NCAA D1) during the 2020-21 season, registering one assist, 29 penalty minutes and was a minus-three in 14 games.

The following season, Dickinson dropped down to NCAA Division 3, suiting up for SUNY-Oswego, where he’d spend the next two-and-a-half years of his career before making the jump to professional hockey partway through the 2023-24 campaign.

In 75 games in the ECHL with the Worcester Railers, the 26-year-old has put up 13 points (two goals, 11 assists), 78 penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.

Puck drop for Kalamazoo’s first game of the 2025-26 season on Saturday is set for 1:30 p.m. PT (4:30 p.m. local) and can be viewed live on FloHockey.
