Teams getting physical with each other during games is very common. But sometimes, even the goaltenders get involved — like last night, when the Carolina Hurricanes and the Anaheim Ducks got into a huge brawl.
The Ducks had the tough task of trying to beat the undefeated Carolina Hurricanes, who have gotten off to a flying start this season. After beating the New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, and San Jose Sharks, the Hurricanes have already established themselves as contenders once again.
Brawl in the Hurricanes zone
The Ducks fell short and lost 4–1, but they definitely put up a fight — literally. At the end of the second period, a massive brawl broke out in the Hurricanes’ zone, and every player on the ice got involved — even the goaltenders. Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen joined in on the skirmish, which prompted Ducks keeper Lukas Dostal to skate all the way across the ice to challenge him.
”Why stop the goalies?”
But before they could drop the gloves, officials stepped in and stopped them from fighting. Both goalies received two-minute penalties for leaving their creases. Fans were disappointed not to see a true goalie fight.
“WHY STOP THE GOALIES?” one fan asked.
Next up, the Ducks will face the Chicago Blackhawks, while the Hurricanes take on the Los Angeles Kings.
