Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson and Cole Caufield

Lane Hutson admires Cole Caufield‘s shot (obviously) and wants to use it as inspiration to take his game to another level with the Montreal Canadiens.

It didn’t take long for Lane Hutson to become the Canadiens’ most offensive defenseman, even though he doesn’t have the best shot on the team, far from it.

From his first season last year, he proved that he could play against the best, mainly thanks to his game vision and incredible speed.

Speaking of vision, have another look at this magical assist:

However, if there’s one aspect of his game he still wants to improve, it’s definitely his shot.

And this time, he decided to say it loud and clear, taking a certain Cole Caufield as his model.

Lane Hutson Wants to Reach Cole Caufield’s Level with His Shot

He admitted that he wants to learn to trust his shot as much as Caufield trusts his.

“He’s such a talented shooter & trusts (his) shot. That’s something where I wanna get to a level where I can trust my shot a little bit more. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do what he does…”

– Lane Hutson

I really like seeing a player being so honest with himself. Hutson has all the talent in the world, but he continues to be demanding of his own game. That’s a quality all the best players share!

This summer, Hutson worked very hard to add more power and accuracy to his shot.

He knows that if he manages to become a real threat with his shot, he will become an even more frightening player for opposing teams.

“I want to keep improving and become more dangerous offensively. It’s an important step for me.” – Lane Hutson

I really love reading this, and I find it inspiring to see a young player like him being so honest with himself.
