By accepting the role of head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, Martin St-Louis knew he was going to have to make a huge sacrifice.
That of living far from his family, who stayed in the United States…
A sacrifice that many people would not be able to make.
But against all odds, this choice was supported from the start by his three sons.
‘If I asked each of them: “Would you like me to stay home or go coach the Canadiens?”, they would all want me to coach,’ confessed the Habs coach during a generous interview given to Salut Bonjour.”

Two of his sons already play college hockey, while the youngest is finishing his last year of high school.
So it’s mainly his wife, Heather, who misses him the most. And I must say, that’s completely understandable. Long distance is hard for everyone.
However, good news – it won’t be for much longer!!!
Martin St-Louis confirms that he will soon be reunited with his wife in Montreal
St-Louis also shared how this separation began with an almost ironic promise to his wife.
“She knew I wanted to coach, but I was only willing to leave to become a head coach in the NHL, and I had told her, ‘don’t worry, it won’t happen.’ When it did happen, she was laughing, but she was behind me.

The Canadiens’ coach explained that this is his youngest son’s final year of high school:
“Next year, she’ll be able to follow me.”
This news delights both fans and Canadiens observers.
I can’t even imagine the difference this will make for Martin St-Louis and for his family. It’s such wonderful and happy news!
Personally, I completely share that opinion. I’m convinced that returning to married life in Montreal will do him a world of good.
