Lane Hutson was quick to point to Cole Caufield’s excellent shot as a source of envy. Given how well Hutson performs in all other aspects of the game, we’ll have to forgive him for not having the best shot in the league.

Lane Hutson yesterday on Cole Caufield’s game-tying goal:

“He’s such a talented shooter & trusts (his) shot. That’s something where I wanna get to a level where I can trust my shot a little bit more. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do what he does…” pic.twitter.com/PHsoi0QdXf

The Laval Rocket put together a solid 3-0 win on Friday night versus the Abbotsford Canucks, with Jared Davidson, Filip Mesar, and Xavier Simoneau serving as the goalscorers, while Jacob Fowler stopped all 19 shots sent his way to secure the shutout.

Unfortunately, newly signed Rocket defenceman Josiah Didier was the victim of a dirtbag move by Chase Stillman. After purposely slamming Didier on his helmetless head, Stillman followed it up with a punch, while it was clear Didier was already down and out.

Total cheap-shot!!
Unnecessary and very dangerous!! @abbycanucks Chase Stillman (Corey’s son) gets a match penalty for punching @RocketLaval’s Josiah Didier “after” falling on the ice!! #GoRocket 🚀 pic.twitter.com/40HLpDLS0G

ICYMI: The Habs were 20 seconds away from a loss, but late-game heroics by Lane Hutson and Cole Caufield snatched victory from the jaws of defeat versus the Predators. Caufield remains among the hottest and most clutch goalscorers in the NHL, and the Canadiens suddenly find themselves atop the Eastern Conference standings. We also have to give credit to Hutson for his fantastic save in the dying seconds of the third period.   [Canadiens Highlights: More Caufield Late-Game Heroics]

The offensive problems of the Florida Panthers were back on display Thursday against the New Jersey Devils. Florida did open the scoring in the first two minutes of the game, but that goal from Evan Rodrigues was all they could muster in a 3-1 loss to the Devils in a game that Daniil Tarasov kept them in throughout. The New Jersey Devils are growing up right before our very eyes. It’s not polished yet, but the signs of maturation are certainly encouraging. [New Jersey Devils]

Oskar Olausson’s tenure with the San Jose Sharks organization didn’t last long. The former Avalanche forward was dealt to the Minnesota Wild on Friday in exchange for defenceman Kyle Masters. [Colorado Avalanche]
