Kiefer Sherwood stepped up in a big way for Vancouver Canucks prospect Braeden Cootes, while he only lasted three games in the NHL this season, he was grateful for the leadership Sherwood provided.

“The Vancouver Canucks announced earlier this week that after three games in the National Hockey League, they were assigning Braeden Cootes back to the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL, a move that didn’t come as much of a surprise to some as it was pretty unlikely he was going to stick around for the entire season.”-Jaxon

Braeden Cootes names on specific player who helped him during his time with the Vancouver Canucks.

“Kiefer Sherwood was one that was awesome to me. First day of training camp, he felt like my teammate. He was so easy to talk to. He was on my line, too, so that obviously made it easier to get to know him right away.”-Cootes

Cootes was playing mostly alongside Sherwood and Kane, and while everyone was nice and helpful to him, he felt Sherwood was really involved in how he was adjusting to the NHL and to the team. Sherwood spoke highly of Cootes during his time with the big club.

“I mean, 18 the kid is a stud. He’s already composed, playing the right way, and he’s got some grit to his game. It’s gonna be exciting to see him continue to put in the work.»-Sherwood

It will be good to see Sherwood stay with the team for years to come as his contract comes to an end this offseason. If he continues with the Canucks we can see the bond between the two grow even more.
