The Los Angeles Kings announced that captain Anze Kopitar will be considered week-to-week due to a foot injury.

Kopitar missed Thursday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins after taking a puck to the foot against the Minnesota Wild on Monday.

The 38-year-old captain announced earlier in September that this would be his final NHL season.

He has four assists in four games thus far.

In 1,458 career NHL games, all with the Kings, the Jesenice, Slovenia native has 440 goals and 1,282 points and led the Kings to a pair of Stanley Cup victories in 2012 and 2014.

Phillip Danault will centre the first line between Andrei Kuzmenko and Adrian Kempe Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, with Quinton Byfield, Alex Turcotte, and Samuel Helenius down the middle behind him on the depth chart.
