As their first regular season game draws near, the Mavericks continued to finalize their roster on Saturday with the conversion of rookie center Moussa Cissé to a two-way contract.
“I’m really grateful,” he told The Dallas Morning News at practice Saturday. “This is like a dream come true.”
The team did not disclose the terms of the deal.

The 6-foot-10, 230-pound center impressed in the preseason with six points, 12 rebounds and a team-leading seven blocks. Cissé, from Conakry, Guinea, was a well-decorated player in college. He was named the AAC Freshman of the Year at Memphis, made two Big 12 All-Defensive Teams at Oklahoma State and was named the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year for the Cowboys in 2022.
Cissé joins fellow rookies Ryan Nembhard and Miles Kelly as the Mavericks’ three players on two-way contracts.
The Mavericks also announced they signed Matt Cross, Jamarion Sharp and Zhaire Smith for the purpose of being assigned to the Texas Legends. Cross and Smith both have local ties, as Cross played his final collegiate season at SMU last year and Smith was a first-round pick out of Texas Tech in 2018.
Smith, who played for Garland Lakeview Centennial in high school, appeared in 14 games for the Legends last year, averaging 20.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
These moves come after the Mavericks waived Dalano Blanton, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Dennis Smith Jr. on Friday.
The Mavericks own the G League rights of Blanton and Robinson-Earl, and are working to secure the G League rights Smith.
