24 hours after defeating the Dallas Stars, the Vancouver Canucks were back in action on Friday night looking to extend their winning streak to two games as they took on Connor Bedard & the Chicago Blackhawks.Heading into Friday’s contest, there was plenty of emotion from Adam Foote’s group as they faced off against Jason Dickinson for the first time since last March when he injured Filip Chytil, with Kiefer Sherwood hoping to get revenge.”It’s back-to-back games that guys are taking liberties on our guys. [Dickinson] is going to have to answer the bell next year because I know we don’t play them again, but that was a dirty hit. Unnecessary. 6-2. And then he doesn’t have the whatever to step on the ice afterwards? [Derek Forbort] asked him. It is what it is. We’ll get him next year.” Sherwood said in March.

Dickinson was fully aware and understood that something might be coming during the game, telling reporters pre-game that he respects the fact that the Canucks want to stand up for their teammate.

“I get it, they’re not happy. You don’t want to see your teammate hurt, so I respect that. I expect guys to play with integrity. I appreciate whatever has to come, has to come.” Dickinson said.

Ultimately, Dickinson didn’t have to drop the mitts on Friday night, but he was on the receiving end of a pretty hard open ice hit from Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland that knocked him out of the game for a short period of time.

“Jason Dickinson is back on the bench after briefly heading to the locker room due to this hit:” @BlackhawksFocus said on X.

When speaking with reporters on Saturday, Chicago Blackhawks Head Coach Jeff Blashill said that Jason Dickinson is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and will be a game-time decision on Sunday evening when the club welcomes the Anaheim Ducks to the United Center.

“Chicago head coach Jeff Blashill said Jason Dickinson is day to day with an injury. He’ll be a game-time decision for Sunday vs. Anaheim.” Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio said.

With Conor Garland exacting revenge for Filip Chytil’s injury back in the spring, it’s safe to say that this case is now settled and both sides can move on, but we’ll have to wait and see what the rematch has in store on Wednesday, November 5th back in Vancouver.
