They finally did. The Avalanche unveiled their throwback Quebec Nordiques jerseys on Tuesday as part of their 30th Anniversary celebrations.

The classic blue jerseys, which feature the igloo Nordiques logo and the fleur-de-lis, will be worn seven times throughout the regular season.

The first time they’ll be featured is on Thursday at Ball Arena when the Avs host the Carolina Hurricanes. It looks like the Canes will also be donning throwback Hartford Whalers jerseys for that game.

Colorado will also wear the Nordiques jerseys when they host the Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 29. The Nordiques and Habs were one of the fiercest rivals in the NHL before the team relocated to Denver.

Among the other five times they’ll be worn, the Avs will also don them when they’re in Carolina for another retro night featuring both the Whalers and Nordiques colors.
