Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin admitted recently that there is a sense of urgency to complete a trade at some point soon amid their injury situation.

The Vancouver Canucks might only be six games into their 2025-26 schedule, but it’s already been an eventful season for the organization thus far with the club winning their first three on a five-game road trip and have also dealt with a ton of injury issues, including including one to forward Filip Chytil after he was hit by Tom Wilson on Sunday afternoon.

Patrik Allvin has been hard at work over the last 24 hours trying to get the team’s roster in order, while also ensuring that they have sufficient cap space to work with.

Going back to earlier this month, the Vancouver Canucks have been looking for a middle-six forward, mainly due to the fact that Nils Hoglander will be out until closer to Christmas, but there’s no doubt that the front office is feeling the pressure to add as things spiral in the injury department.

“The Vancouver Canucks are believed to be looking for a middle-six forward to add to their roster due to winger Nils Hoglander missing the next eight-to-ten weeks because of an injury. Canucks GM Patrik Allvin has been exploring options, according to separate league sources, but it is unclear if a move is imminent.” David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said earlier this month.

When speaking with reporters on Monday after announcing several roster moves, Patrik Allvin shared that due to the injuries the team is dealing with right now, it’s making him look into different possibilities to add to his roster that he hasn’t looked at before.

He went on to add that he’s continuing to weigh all his options when it comes to adding to the roster, whether it be someone who can help just in the short term or someone they view can make an impact now and in the future.

“I think there’s always been an urgency (to add that player) and that’s been something we looked into all summer. I would say this probably makes me look at other things I might not have looked at before. Just take a different view. My job is to look at the options, short-term and long-term and what makes sense for us.” Allvin said according to Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet.

It seems inevitable that the Vancouver Canucks will make a trade, potentially before October comes to a close, with names like Brennan Othmann (New York Rangers), Lukas Reichel (Chicago Blackhawks) and Casey Mittelstadt (Boston Bruins) all being linked to the club at various points over the last month.
