GM Chris Drury got more than what he bargained for when he brought JT Miller back to the New York Rangers after he sent Filip Chytil to Vancouver. Not only is the forward a capable 100+ point scorer, but he could be a good golfing buddy too.New York Rangers forward JT Miller finished the 2024-2025 season scoring 70 points (22 goals, 48 assists) split between the Canucks and blue shirts. Now that the season is finally over, he is hitting the golf course. While this isn’t the typical jest surrounding the Maple Leafs kind of tone, he is serious about being a competitor in the golf world.

According to USA Today’s Vince Mercogliano, he is seriously trying to make the U.S. open at the Oakmont course.

Miller isn’t the only non-golf athlete who he’s competing with at Oakmont, as he has to contend with Tony Romo, an ex-Dallas Cowboy, and former NFL running back Danny Woodhead.

Miller was acquired from the Canucks in January after a rift arose in the locker room between himself, and Elias Pettersson.

The former 1st-round pick of the New York Rangers’ reunion has been an exciting one as he hit the ground running after arriving back in Madison Square Garden.

The Blueshirts sent Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a 1st-round pick in return for the elite forward.

“I wasn’t into this expecting to move on or anything,” Miller said following his round in 2023. “I just wanted to see if I could compete with these guys. I’m a competitor in all things. It doesn’t need to be professional sports; any activity, really, I like to compete.»

This isn’t the first time Miller has tried to qualify in the U.S. Open, when he participated in the qualifying rounds in Pittsburgh in 2022 and 2023.

The East Palestine, OH-born forward has found New York as his new home and has taken to it well.
