The Montreal Canadiens begin their long Western Canada road trip tonight, with the first stop in Calgary to face the Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The atmosphere is expected to be electric, as several Canadiens fans are anticipated in the stands. Montreal, having won five of its last six games, clearly wants to keep the momentum going.

But the Flames, on the other hand, are hoping to turn things around after a very rough start to the season. With just one win in seven games and a mere 11 goals scored, Calgary will be looking to bounce back in front of its home crowd.

And on that note, the team made an important decision ahead of tonight’s game.

Dustin Wolf confirmed as the starting goaltender for the Flames against the Canadiens

Renaud Lavoie confirmed that Dustin Wolf will be the Flames’ starting goalie tonight against the Canadiens.

“Dustin Wolf vs Canadiens”

The 24-year-old netminder has been solid against Montreal so far.

In two career matchups, he holds a perfect 2-0-0 record, a .960 save percentage, a 1.00 goals-against average, and even a shutout.

In other words, Wolf seems particularly comfortable facing the Canadiens.

Fans will therefore be treated to an exciting showdown between two promising young goaltenders.

I think this game could serve as a real test to see where Montreal stands right now.

Sure, it’s a late one (8:30 p.m.), but I think it’s worth staying up a little later to watch our Habs in action!
