Owen Tippett is off to a scorching hot start to the season. Through six games, the Flyers’ 26 year old forward has five points with five goals to start the season.

Earlier in the week, Tippett’s name was mentioned as a possible trade chip for the Flyers. With the Flyers depth at the wing, Dave Pagnotta of The 4th Period suggested that teams could come poking around, interested in Tippett as a possible target.

While his recent play should be more than enough reason to believe the Flyers aren’t interested in moving Tippett, a recent report confirms that.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman shut down rumors and trade talk surrounding Tippett. Talking about Tippett on Morning Cuppa Hockey, Friedman said, “I don’t think he’s a guy Philly’s really looking to deal…I think it may have come up in one specific case or something like that.”

Tippett has been by far one of the best Flyers early into the season. While nothing suggested that they’d be interested in moving him before, the Flyers now have no reason to even entertain conversation about a trade.

Trade rumors this early in the season are always to be taken with a grain of salt. Friedman’s recent report confirms that.
