Seasons in all leagues are now underway around the world. The Oilers have a particularly deep prospect pool in goaltending with five goaltenders signed to their affiliates for the 2025–2026 season. It was also a positive past week for their AHL and ECHL affiliates as both now enter Wednesday on a win streak.

Lets take a look at the players in the system.

Welcome to the TOR Edmonton Oilers prospect update. Each week, we’ll take a dive into how the Oilers’ prospects have done in their respective leagues, to go along with a feature on one standout prospect in Edmonton’s system. We have defined a prospect as a skater who has played fewer than 65 NHL games and was born in 2001 or earlier.

Aidan Park, Forward, University of Michigan (NCAA)

Little is often expected of 7th round picks, but the Oilers have a trend of identifying some late rounders that could have potential at the NHL level, from Vincent Desharnais in 2016, to William Nicholl in 2024, and now Aidan Park in 2025.

The 6’01 forward plays a responsible two-way forward game who can change the pace of any game in any of the three zones. His game is highlighted by strong physicality, a high compete level, and a capable enough senses plus shooting combo to make him an offensive threat.

Playing his draft plus one year in Green Bay last season boosted his stock, where he was one of the most impressive performers in the USHL, which finally got him on the radar of NHL scouts. Now the Shattuck St. Mary’s alumnus has proven he can adjust to the NCAA game with the University of Michigan.

His physicality allows him to get to the grittier areas, absorb contact well, and establish favourable body positioning and leverage on opponents. This makes him a threat to force opponents into awkward spots, and turn over pucks.

This physicality blends nicely with his compete level as he displays a high-end motor, relentless no-shift off mentality, high play engagement and suffocating defensive pressure exertion. Look for his hustle in transition, and defensive responsibility to shine as he continues his college career.

Senses-wise, Park continues to display notable defensive instincts, a consistent active stick, and quality risk assessment that allows him to mitigate high danger plays both on the backcheck and in the zone. He also shows strong puck protection mechanics that allow him to thrive as a play supporter.

The 2006-born forward also has a good sense of timing and play reading which has allowed him to thrive in both the USHL, and will continue to do so at the NCAA level.

Shooting-wise, the Oilers draftee possesses a quick release, good frequency, and notable deception within his release that makes his shot slightly unpredictable for goaltenders across the league.

The main areas of concern for Park include his skating (posture, lack of explosiveness, lateral acceleration, and edge work), along with puck skills, particularly he stands as a below-average handler, and has limitations around control, pass receptions, and lane manipulation.

Overall, he struggles as a puck handler when the game has a higher pace, and in offensive transition.

The Condors now sit at 2–1–0, after they secured a 2–1 victory against the San Jose Barracuda on the 18th, and a 5–4 victory against the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

Roby Jarventie leads Bakersfield prospects with four points.

Recently acquired goaltender, Connor Ingram, made his Condors debut this last week on the 18th, in the 2–1 victory against San Jose stopping 21 of 22 shots. His crease partner, 31-year-old Matt Tomkins has struggled greatly early, posting a .843, and a 5.55 goals against across his two starts.

20-year-old rookie goaltender, Nathan Day was sent down to the Fort Wayne Komets on the 14th.

ECHL

The Komets started their season 2–0–0, with a 4–0 victory against the Indy Fuel on the 17th, and a 6–5 win against the Kalamazoo Wings the following day.

Oilers prospect Jaydon Grubbe leads Oilers affiated prospects with three points across two games. He also serves as a stable two way forward for Fort Wayne.

Europe

2025 6th rounder, Daniel Salonen collected a Champion Hockey League win against GKS Tychy on the 15th. This was his only appearance this past week.

Petr Hauser has been reassigned to the top Czech league, and had the first multi-point outing of his campaign in a 8–2 victory on the 15th against HC Litvinov in 11:43 of TOI. He also averaged 9:41 in a second game on the 17th against the Jagr-full Rytiri Kladno.

NCAA

Barnett and Park both appeared in two games this past week. Barnett continues to be a reliable third pairing defender and averaged 17 minutes of TOI, and even posted an assist in his first of two games against RMU on the 15th. In just 10:09 Park has his first three point outing in the second game, a 10–3 victory, with a goal and two assists.

Fischer continues to build momentum this season, and posted three points in a pair of games against St. Lawrence University this past week.

2024 6th rounder Dalyn Wakely had a pair of big matchups against the University of Western Michigan this past week, and looks to still finding some adjustment in his two way game to the NCAA level, going -3 for the weekend.

WHL

2025 3rd rounder, Tommy Lafreniere is certainly improving his shooting this year, with eight goals across ten games, he looks to be more of a finisher than he was last season. He had a particularly strong week potting four goals across three games, and posting five points total for the Blazers. The 2007 born winger is also on the four game point streak.

Lewandowski is back at it again, he is keeping high end momentum. He was kept off of the scoresheet in one of his three games this past week, but that’s only the second time that’s happened all season long. He keeps wracking up the points, hits, and shots. Expect him to be a capable power-forward at the next level.

Russia

Yevseyev continues to build on his two way game, and this has earned him more and more ice-time as the season goes on. He appeared in three games this past week, and even collected an assist in his first of the trio against Spartak Moskva on the 15th.

Beryozkin ia looking to get back on track this season, and this past week was a good start. He appeared in three games and looked to show better puck skills through higher end vision, and decision making leading to two assists. He looks to be playing more of a top nine role averaging around 14:30 per game. with the occasional game in the top 6.
