The Vancouver Canucks organization has signed a former National Hockey League forward to a professional tryout (PTO) this week due to injury issues at all three levels.
With Patrik Allvin needing to dip down to AHL for forward help, Abbotsford is in need of reinforcements and on Wednesday, they got exactly that by inking a former NHL forward to a professional tryout.

In a press release on their website, the Abbotsford Canucks announced that they’ve signed forward Arnaud Durandeau to a professional tryout (PTO) ahead of Friday night’s Calder Cup banner raising against the Ontario Reign, AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings.
“Abbotsford Canucks General Manager, Ryan Johnson, announced today that the club has signed forward Arnaud Durandeau to a professional try-out agreement.” the club said.
Durandeau, 26, was a sixth-round pick (165th overall) of the New York Islanders in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and went on to make four appearances with the big club during the 2022-23 campaign, with most of his professional hockey career thus far being spent in the AHL.
Last season, the Montreal, Quebec native made the decision to head overseas to the KHL for the first time in his career as he signed with Amur Khabarovsk, whose roster included former Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk and former Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Jan Drozg.
In 37 games with Amur Khabarovsk, Durandeau registered eight points (three goals, five assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-13.
Puck drop for Friday night’s game against the Ontario Reign, which could be Durandeau’s Abbotsford Canucks debut, is set for 7 p.m. PT.
