A former National Hockey League forward and current Vancouver Canucks analyst on Sportsnet Ray Ferraro has earned a massive honour in British Columbia this week.
The Vancouver Canucks have one of the best broadcasting crews in the entire National Hockey League, from host Dan Murphy to John Shorthouse & Dave Tomlinson in the booth and occasionally, former NHLer Ray Ferraro.
Ferraro, a native of Trail, British Columbia, joined the Vancouver Canucks’ broadcast team on Sportsnet Pacific in September of 2023, doing select games for the club for the last couple of years in addition to his main role on ESPN and ABC.
Just over two weeks into the 2025-26 season, Ferraro returned to British Columbia where he earned a huge honour and was recognized for both his playing and broadcasting career.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ray Ferraro was among nine people inducted into the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame following an impressive on-ice career in the National Hockey League between 1984 and 2002, along with a stellar broadcasting career ever since he hung up the skates two decades ago.
“Congratulations to BC Sports Hall of Fame 2025 inductee Ray Ferraro (@rayferraro21)! The Trail native played 1258-games during an 18-season NHL career (1984-2002) with six teams. He holds the @WHL record with 108-goals in a season. Since 2002, he has worked on-air for @NHL broadcasts, including @Canucks games for @Sportsnet” the BC Sports Hall of Fame said on social media.
Ferraro’s career in the National Hockey League began with the Hartford Whalers, spending parts of seven seasons in Connecticut before being traded to the New York Islanders in 1990.
Along with the Whalers and Islanders, Ferraro also suited up for the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Atlanta Thrashers, as well as the St. Louis Blues.
After retiring from hockey, Ferraro went down the broadcasting path and has worked for ESPN, ABC, TSN, where he was a colour commentator for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and Sportsnet throughout the years.
This summer, Ferraro landed a new gig working on broadcasts for the Los Angeles Kings, which worried some fans in Vancouver that his time on Sportsnet Pacific might be coming to an end, especially since he already has his main gig with ESPN, but the former NHLer quashed those rumors with a post on social media.
“Nope Just getting my schedule together, but will be back for sure with the Canucks.” Ferraro said on X.
Everyone here at Canucks Daily would like to congratulate Ray Ferraro on the well-deserved honour of being inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
