The basics:
New Jersey Devils stars (and brothers) Jack and Luke Hughes are launching Hughes Brothers’ Pucks & Pages. The multiyear reading initiative aims to promote literacy among New Jersey’s youth.
The brothers developed the program in partnership with JAG Physical Therapy and Hockey in New Jersey. Pucks & Pages will provide books chosen by the Hugheses to youth participants in Hockey in New Jersey’s scholastic programs. Additionally, children who meet their reading goals will receive a special Devils home game-day experience hosted by the Hughes Brothers.
JAG Physical Therapy will sponsor that perk as part of its ongoing, longtime partnership with the Devils. The experience will include:
Game tickets
Food and beverages
Custom team merchandise
In-game recognition
A post-game meet-and-greet with the Hughes brothers to discuss the book
And more
The first featured title of the program is “Fast Pitch” by Nic Stone. The coming-of-age story details a young softball player looking to prove herself on and off the field. Each Hockey in New Jersey participant who completes the educational goal will also receive a signed certificate from the Hughes brothers.

In a press release, the Hughes brothers said that Pucks and Pages is an awesome program they are excited to create.
“It’s an interactive way to engage students with our passion for reading for many years to come,” said Jack and Luke Hughes jointly. “We’re lucky JAG partnered with us, along with Hockey in New Jersey, so we can bring people to the game, meet them after, and share that experience.”
Beyond the ice
JAG Physical Therapy President and CEO John Gallucci Jr. expressed his organization’s excitement about this initiative.

“We’ve been in partnership with the New Jersey Devils for over 20 years, and we’re honored to be a part of Jack and Luke’s new program, working alongside them to help support reading among our youth hockey players,” said Gallucci. “We look forward to continued collaboration to positively impact children within our communities and provide opportunities and new experiences for youth hockey.”
Hockey in New Jersey focuses on providing access and opportunity for underserved youth. The organization says this partnership deepens its mission beyond the ice.
“We’ve always believed that Hockey in New Jersey is about more than just what happens on the ice — it’s about creating opportunities, building confidence, and inspiring our kids to grow in every area of life,” said co-founders Dennis Ruppe and Keith Veltre. “Hughes Brothers’ Pucks & Pages is a perfect extension of that mission. We’re incredibly grateful to Jack and Luke Hughes, JAG Physical Therapy, and the New Jersey Devils for helping bring this vision to life and making reading both accessible and exciting for our kids.”
