Stuck in a four-game losing streak, the Nashville Predators host the Vancouver Canucks at Bridgestone Arena on Oct. 23.
The Predators (2-3-2, 6 points) lost 5-2 to the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 21 to continue their losing streak. Ross Johnston had three points, but once again it was Nashville’s offense that struggled. They managed just 28 shots on Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal, only two of which came in the third period with the Predators down multiple goals.
“This is just a game we didn’t execute at the level, we didn’t play at the pace we needed to play,” Brunette said after the loss. “That’s every little stick battle. There’s a reason we took penalties, we were soft on pucks. They were faster. That’s something our concentration has to be higher on next game.”
The Predators will look for rookie Matthew Wood to create a spark against Vancouver (4-3-0, 8 points). Nashville recalled Wood from Milwaukee ahead of the game and he will start his first game of the season. He played six games last season after signing his three-year, entry-level contract on March 29.
The Predators made one other move this week, sending Brady Martin back to the OHL after a three-game trial in Nashville. As per the CHL-NHL agreement, Martin cannot return to the Predators this season. The earliest he can return would be the 2026-27 season.
The Canucks are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 21 and are dealing with injuries to multiple starters. Forwards Brock Boeser and Teddy Blueger are questionable for the game, while Nils Hoglander and Filip Chytil are on injured reserve.
Connor Garland leads Vancouver with seven points (two goals, five assists) in seven games, while former Predators forward Kiefer Sherwood leads the team with four goals.
Juuse Saros is expected to start for the Predators. Thatcher Demko should get the start for the Canucks.
The Nashville Predators vs. Vancouver Canucks game will be televised by FanDuel Sports Network South with streaming available via FUBO and ESPN+ (outside of the Nashville TV market).
