Vancouver Canucks Release Expanded Black Skate Alternate Jersey Schedule

The Vancouver Canucks have announced an increase in the amount of times they’ll don their famous Black Skate alternate jerseys during the 2025-26 season.
Fans of the team have grown quite fond of the uniforms, which were worn from 1985-1997, in recent years after they were brought back as their 50th anniversary jersey during the 2019-20 campaign and as a full fledged alternate from 2023 until now.
With some members of the fan base calling for the club to bring them back as their home jerseys and re-introducing the white version as their away, it looks like we could be getting close to that happening, as the organization has increased the amount of times they’ll be donning these uniforms during the 2025-26 season.
Vancouver Canucks increase the amount of times they’ll wear their Black Skate uniforms
In a press release earlier this week, the Vancouver Canucks announced their black ‘Skate’ jersey schedule for the 2025-26 season, which will see Adam Foote’s group wear the unifrom a total of 20 times – 48 percent of their home games, and an increase of two from last year.
“The Vancouver Canucks announced today the team’s Black Skate jersey schedule for the 2025.26 season. The team wore the iconic jerseys during their Home Opener on October 9 and will wear them on 19 other occasions throughout the season.” the club shared.

Given the steady increase in the amount of times the club is wearing their Black Skate sweaters, from 15 during the 2023-24 campaign to 18 last year and 20 this season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if they decided to do a full rebrand in the years ahead.
