NHL Insider’s Harsh Words and Anger Toward Elias Pettersson Go Beyond What’s Acceptable

The Elias Pettersson struggles are getting out of hand for the Vancouver Canucks, already with problems up the middle, their number one center is playing like a third liner at best, and NHL insider Frank Seravalli believes he’s on his way towards a buyout.

“During his appearance on the show, Button said that he thinks if Elias Pettersson isn’t able to turn things around and has another poor season, that he could potentially be a buyout candidate.”-Jaxon

Elias Pettersson is on his way to a buyout if he doesn’t turn things around.

Adam Kierszenblat posted on X a quote from Frank Seravalli absolutely blasting Elias Pettersson, saying no team will want him and he will be bought out next season.

This obviously isn’t the first time an insider has suggested this same fate, most notably mentioned by Craig Button, who also believes Pettersson is playing himself into a buyout, but went about it in a much different manner.

Seravalli’s post has had many mixed reviews from fans, some agreeing with him, some saying he went way over the line with his remarks and others saying he is actually playing much better, just his numbers haven’t backed it up yet.

According to PuckPedia, if the Vancouver Canucks buyout the remainder of Elias Pettersson’s contract, it will cost them $2,155,556 per for 12 NHL seasons and even with the salary cap increasing significantly, having $2.15 million of dead cap space isn’t a good idea.
