NEW YORK – Macklin Celebrini and Taylor Raddysh had dueling hat tricks as Will Smith scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the San Jose Sharks beat the New York Rangers 6-5.
Celebrini’s hat trick was the second of his career. He also added two assists. Smith had two goals and two assists. William Eklund had three assists, and Dmitry Orlov had two. Adam Gaudette scored the other goal, and Alex Nedeljkovic made 22 saves.
Raddysh’s hat trick was also the second of his career. Juuso Parssinen and Mika Zibanejad had the other goals for the Rangers. Igor Shesterkin made 19 saves. Coming into this game, the Rangers had only scored one goal on home ice.
Celebrini found Smith for the one-timer at 1:38 of overtime to win the game for the Sharks.

Celebrini’s goal total is up to five, and he now has back-to-back games with at least one goal.
Ryan Reaves and Matt Remepe got into a spirited fight in the first period. Rempe would leave the game following the fight.
Nick Leddy left the game for the San Jose Sharks due to an upper-body injury. He was hit by Rangers forward Will Cuylle and did not return.
Gaudette scored at 1:58 of the first period to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. Collin Graf got a pass from Michael Misa behind the net and then fed a wide-open Gaudette in front of Shesterkin.

After Ryan Reaves crunched a Rangers forward, Matt Rempe challenged him to a fight, and it was one for the ages.
Celebrini pushed the Sharks’ lead to 2-0 with a power play goal at 6:17. William Eklund’s one-timer bounced off multiple bodies, including Celebrini, before getting past Shesterkin’s right pad.
Raddysh made it 2-1 at 14:19. Raddysh’s shot from the center point was going wide, but deflected off Vincent Desharnais’ leg and past Nedeljkovic.
Celebrini pushed the Sharks’ lead to 3-1 with his second goal of the period with 8.1 seconds left. Eklund’s spinning pass found Will Smith, who got it to Celebrini in the slot. His wrist shot beat Shesterkin over the glove.

Zibanejad scored a power play goal at 4:04 of the second period to make it 3-2. Alexis Lafreniere made a perfect cross-ice pass for the one-timer goal.
Juuso Parssinen tied it at 3-3 with a backhand forehand move at 6:47 after Connor Sheary made a pass from the corner.
Raddysh put the Rangers in front 4-3 with his second goal of the game, a shorthanded tally, at 12:09.
Celebrini completed the hat trick with a game-tying goal with 5.8 seonds left in the period. Smith passed the center the puck and his one-timer from the bottom of the left circle beat Shesterkin short side.

Smith gave the Sharks a 5-4 lead right after an extended five-on-three power play expired at 6:31 of the third period. Celebrini and Eklund assisted on the play.
Raddysh completed the hat trick at 11:50 with a slap shot over the glove of Nedlejkovic.
