The Vancouver Canucks announced a roster move on Saturday ahead of their clash against the Montreal Canadiens tonight on Hockey Night in Canada.

After a five-game road trip, which saw the club come away with three wins against the Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals, the Vancouver Canucks return to Rogers Arena tonight as they hope to snap their two-game losing streak.

In a social media post on Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they’ve sent Tom Willander back to the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Canucks and have called up defenseman Victor Mancini.

“General Manager Patrick Allvin announced today that D Tom Willander has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL) and D Victor Mancini has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL).” the Canucks said.

Mancini, 23, was sent down to the American Hockey League on Monday and due to the NHL not allowing paper transactions anymore and denying the team’s request for one, the blueliner had to fly to British Columbia and report to Abbotsford.

The Hancock, Michigan native suited up in one game for Abbotsford, which came last night as the club raised their 2025 Calder Cup banner in front of the hometown fans, with Mancini finishing the night with two penalty minutes and was a minus-two.

“Last night was so special! 🥹

Abbotsford, thank you for sharing this moment with us, your support means everything!”
