Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin Reveals When Jonathan Lekkerimaki Will Return From Injury

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin revealed on Friday when 2022 first rounder Jonathan Lekkerimaki could return to game action after suffering an injury.Last Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks went into Washington looking to extend their winning streak to three and they did exactly that thanks to a big performance from Thatcher Demko, who stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced.However, the team didn’t leave the U.S. capital unscathed, as forwards Filip Chytil and Jonathan Lekkerimaki suffered injuries early on in the game, were forced to leave and did not return.The next day, the Vancouver Canucks placed both players on injured reverse, retroactive to Sunday, October 19th, but after receiving an update from Patrik Allvin on Friday, it’s going to be a little while before either player return to game action.”General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today the following roster moves:

– F Filip Chytil and F Jonathan Lekkerimäki have been placed on injured reserve (retroactive to Oct 19).” the Canucks said earlier this week.

Allvin told the media that Jonathan Lekkerimaki, who was hit awkwardly along the boards by Capitals defenseman Matt Roy, is set to miss the next two-to-three weeks, putting him on track for a return to the lineup anywhere from November 8th to November 15th.

“Allvin suggests that Chytil has been making progress but still needs to go through the protocol and hasnt been cleared.

Allvin says a lack of practice time also a challenge to get these guys back.” Farhan Lalji said on X.

Lekkerimaki, 21, is hoping to stick around in the National Hockey League for the entire 2025-26 campaign after appearing in 24 games for the big club last season, along with 39 in the AHL, helping the Abbotsford Canucks win their first-ever Calder Cup.

In four games this season, the Tullinge, Sweden native has one goal and an even-rating.
