Tampa, Fla. – Saturday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning faced the visiting Anaheim Ducks, in their only visit to the Benchmark International Arena during the regular season. The Lightning came away with a 4-3 victory, for its first win on home ice this season. It was also a night of milestones, with Nikita Kucherov achieving his 1,000th career point in the NHL with a primary assist on Jake Guentzel‘s second goal of the night. Victor Hedman reached 800 career points, and Brandon Hagel reached 300 career points.

Jake Guentzel scored the lone goal of the first period for Tampa. Anaheim’s Jacob Truba scored at 4:42 of the second period to even things up. Guentzel scored his second goal at 12:19, and Anthony Cirelli gave Tampa a 3-1 lead to end the second period. Down by two heading into the third period, the Ducks were able to even things up on goals from Ryan Poehling at 7:11 and Troy Terry at 8:09. Cirelli’s second goal of the game came on the power play at 16:45 and would be the game-winner for the Lightning. The two teams will next face each other for a New Year’s Eve matchup at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Tampa will next face the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday afternoon, at 5 pm.
