“This move is for the purpose of contract termination. The #ALLCAPS accommodated the player’s desire to pursue opportunities overseas.” Tarik El-Bashir said on X.

According to Russian media outlet Championat, Sheldon Rempal will be returning to Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the KHL for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

Note: the following is translated from Russian

“Salavat Yulaev officially announced the transfer of forward Sheldon Rempal. This was previously reported by Championat.

As a reminder, Rempal signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals in the summer of 2025. He played two preseason games without scoring any points. Last night, the Capitals terminated his contract.”

Rempal, a native of Calgary, Alberta, left North America for the first time in his career ahead of the 2024-25 season when he signed a one-year deal with Salavat Yulaev Ufa.

The 30-year-old was among the best in the Kontinental Hockey League last season, finishing tied for fourth in goals with 31 and was fourth in points with 61.

Given that Salavat Yulaev Ufa have yet to officially announce the signing on their website or social media accounts, it’s unclear when Rempal will make his season debut with the club, but it could potentially come as early as Wednesday, when they take on Admiral Vladivostok.
