In what came out of nowhere, the Vancouver Canucks received some tough news where captain Quinn Hughes will be out indefinitely with a lower body injury and will not play against the Edmonton Oilers.
After a tough comeback loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, the Vancouver Canucks were looking to get back on the horse and get in the win column against the divisional rival Edmond Oilers on one of their many back to back games this season.
Vancouver Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes Out with a Lower-Body Injury
Unfortunately, the Canucks will be without their captain and MVP, Quinn Hughes, as the team announced that he will be out indefinitely with a lower body injury.
Hughes out with lower-body injury, Mancini replaces him for Canucks vs. Oilers
The fact that Hughes is out is coming to the shock of many Vancouver fans, especially that there was no specific play against the Canadiens that indicated he was hurt.
Having gone through a load of injuries that kept him out multiple games during the 2024-25 NHL season, it’s hard news to hear that he may be out long term once again.
The situation is even more pressing for that the team has had a tremendously slow start to the season, going 4-5 in their first 9 games.
Last night against the Canadiens, Hughes picked up a pair of assists, a plus-one rating in the 4-3 loss. He played the most ice time on the Canucks last night, logging 26:25 minutes on his 26 shifts
With out their best player, the Canucks are going to need loads of help from unsung heroes, specifically d-man Victor Mancini who will be replacing Hughes in the lineup.
With new details of the injury, nor the extent, fans will have to wait for more updates to see if it serious or not, and if they can expect him to miss more than just Sunday night’s game against the Edmonton Oilers.
