Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi is dealing with an upper-body injury that will keep him out “week-to-week,” the team announced on Oct. 25.

Josi played a season-low 18:09 in the Predators‘ 2-1 win over the Canucks on Oct. 23. He was not on the bench for a long stretch of the second period, but played in the third period and finished the game.

While the nature of Josi’s injury is unclear, the team said it was unrelated to his recent POTS diagnosis.

This season, Josi has one goal, four assists and 14 blocked shots in eight games while skating 24:05 per night. He missed the final 25 games of last season with a concussion, then was subsequently diagnosed with POTS. He entered the season with a comprehensive treatment plan and reported feeling ready to go for the season.

Now he’s back on the injury list, albeit for different reasons.

For Nashville (3-3-2, 8 points), this is unfortunate timing to have Josi miss games. The defense has improved from last year, but now will be without their best defenseman for some time. While Nic Hague, their biggest offseason acquisition over the summer, should debut soon, the Predators still won’t have a fully healthy lineup with Josi out.

The Predators host the Los Angeles Kings at Bridgestone Arena on Oct. 25 (7 p.m. CT, FanDuel Sports Network).
