Things turn sour for Patrick Kane ahead of Tuesday’s game vs. Blues

According to a report from NHL Insider Ansar Khan, Todd McLellan and the Detroit Red Wings don’t expect Patrick Kane to return to the lineup on the 28th against the St. Louis Blues.
The team is missing his leadership skills and his hockey acumen in the lineup, as they’ll have to depend on secondary scoring to fill in the gaps of the 59-point forward.
The Detroit Red Wings Miss Patrick Kane In the Lineup
Patrick Kane scored 59 points last season (21-38) in 72 games with the Original Six team.
His absence signifies a larger issue for the team, which is dealing with an existential question as the youth movement moves forward.
Surprisingly, it’s been Mason Appleton who’s found himself in a larger role during his absence, while Raymond’s role has diminished.
Instead of the team calling up someone from Grand Rapids, they’re opting to plug in the leaks with depth options.
A solution, but not for long.
Kane signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings in free agency and will make $3 million against the cap.
He’s an American-born legend who surpassed Mike Modano last season in 20-goal seasons (with 17) and isn’t ready to hang up the skates yet.
