The Washington Capitals signed forward Brett Leason to a one-year, two-way contract on Monday and placed on him on waivers to assign him to the AHL’s Hershey Bears.
Leason was a free agent who had spent training camp with the Minnesota Wild on a PTO.

The 26-year-old winger had five goals and 22 points in 62 games with the Anaheim Ducks last season.
Selected in the second round of the 2019 draft by the Capitals, Leason was traded to the Ducks after his first NHL season in 2021-22. He has 25 goals and 54 points in 220 career games with the Capitals and Ducks.
