The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly not done adding to their roster after adding forward Lukas Reichel in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks late last week.

As the Vancouver Canucks continue to navigate their way through their difficult injury situation, General Manager Patrik Allvin is trying to be aggressive on the trade market in order to bring in external help for his club.

On Friday, Patrik Allvin added some forward help by landing Lukas Reichel in a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks, but it appears he has his sights set on an even bigger trade in the weeks to come.

Vancouver Canucks eyeing up Boston Bruins centers in potential trade

In a recent appearance on Sekeres and Price, National Hockey League insider David Pagnotta revealed that two centermen who could be appealing to Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks are Casey Mittelstadt and Pavel Zacha of the Boston Bruins.”Boston is interesting. Casey Mittelstadt is out there out there again. Pavel Zacha was a player that they explored and took calls on last season. From the Canucks perspective, those are two players that would appeal.” Pagnotta said.

He added, “There are players they are exploring on and I would imagine that Boston would be a club that Allvin and (President Jim) Rutherford are going to at least poke on to see what the price tag would be for either of those players.”

Casey Mittelstadt and Pavel Zacha have one year remaining on their contracts beyond the 2025-26 season with cap hits of $5.75 million US and $4.75 million US, respectively.

While both centermen would be solid fits for the Vancouver Canucks, whether it be in a second or third line role for the club, it looks like Pavel Zacha could potentially be Patrik Allvin’s main target.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman revealed on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday that Boston and Vancouver have been talking about the Czech forward dating back to the summer and that the Canucks are not on Zacha’s modified no-trade list, making a deal easier to complete, if both clubs want to go down that route.

“Pavel Zacha and Vancouver. My buddy Rick Dhaliwal reported that the Canucks had contacted the Bruins this week about Zacha. That’s true and I think that’s been going on for quite some time. I think it’s all the way going back to the summer. The Canucks and Bruins have been on and off about this. You know, Zacha’s not in the last year of his deal, he has another year. Teams are looking for centers, Boston doesn’t have to do here it doesn’t want to do. But this has kind of been a dance that the Canucks and some other teams seeing if they can pry Zacha out of there.” Friedman said.

He added, “One thing about Vancouver though in this case, I do not believe they are on Zacha’s no-trade list.”

Zacha, a native of Brno, Czechia, has nine points (two goals, seven assists), eight penalty minutes and is a plus-two in ten games this season for the Boston Bruins.
