Rantanen records three points; Petrovic scores key goal after review.

DALLAS –

The Dallas Stars took a 2-1 lead in their second-round Western Conference playoff series Sunday night, defeating the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 in Game 3.

A controversial third-period goal by defenseman Alexander Petrovic gave Dallas the lead for good. After a lengthy review, officials ruled the puck had deflected off Petrovic and Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck before crossing the line. The decision gave Dallas a 3-2 lead with just over 16 minutes remaining.

Petrovic’s goal was his first playoff goal since 2016. He has now appeared in all 10 of the Stars’ postseason games after playing in just five during the regular season.
