The Bruins are playing the second half of a back-to-back that started with a 7-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Monday that dropped the Bruins to 4-7-0. Boston scored the first goal of the game about three minutes in when Morgan Geekie got his 7th goal of the year, unassisted. Then came a 7-0 run for the Senators that include 1 goal in the first period, 2 goals in the second and then 4 goals in the third, before Viktor Arvidsson scored with 10 seconds left in the game.
Now as the team looks to truly right the ship and get back on the track it was on during the first week of the season, it is also dealing with trade rumors involving a pair of forwards.
The Islanders are also coming into this contest off a loss, losing to the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-3, in a shootout. New York is 4-3-1 on the year and had won four straight prior to the loss on Saturday in Philadelphia.
