The Chicago Blackhawks welcome the Ottawa Senators to the United Center on Tuesday night after their five-game point streak came to an end on Sunday.
The Chicago Blackhawks saw their hot streak come to an end on Sunday night, falling 3-1 to the Los Angeles Kings at the United Center. After capturing at least a point in the five games prior, a fast start was followed by slow second and third periods on Sunday.
Despite the loss, the Blackhawks have a chance to get back to their winning ways. The Ottawa Senators, who crushed the Boston Bruins 7-2 on Monday night, should be tired on the second half of a back-to-back. This is a prime opportunity for the Blackhawks to jump back on the win train. In addition, the late start time is likely in relation to the Senators venturing to Chicago from Boston.
On Monday, the Blackhawks trotted out a different look. Sticking with the 11 forwards and seven defensemen model, Ryan Greene was filling in for Tyler Bertuzzi. The Bertuzzi family welcomed a new member to the family, explaining his absence. In addition, Ilya Mikheyev did not practice on Monday nor skate on Tuesday, but head coach Jeff Blashill did not seem too concerned about the injury after Sunday’s loss. Tuesday’s skate featured Bertuzzi, but the lineup will be determined before game time, per Blashill.
Chicago Blackhawks vs Ottawa Senators Preview
The Blackhawks enter Tuesday’s game with a 4-3-2 record. As for Ottawa, the Senators are 5-4-1 through 10 games. Spencer Knight will start for the Blackhawks after taking the starter’s crease at morning skate. His presence in net has been special in the early going. In fact, if he keeps this up, there will be mentions of his name in the Vezina Trophy conversation at the end of the season.
The Senators’ scoring attack is currently led by the quartet of Shane Pinto, Dylan Cozens, Tim Stutzle, and Drake Batherson, each with 10 points. Unfortunately, the Senators are without Brady Tkachuk due to injury. For Chicago, Frank Nazar, Connor Bedard, and Teuvo Teravainen continue to lead the way.
