EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada – The Utah Mammoth are off to the best start in the NHL and come into tonight’s game against the Edmonton Oilers riding a franchise-best seven-game winning streak.
The Oilers (4-4-2, 10 points) are hosting the white-hot Mammoth (8-2-0, 16 points) at Rogers Place on Tuesday, October 28.
MORNING SKATE
“Schmaltz’s hockey sense, IQ, skill level and detail in his game is really good… I know how good of a player he is and I’m not surprised about him having success.”@utahmammoth André Tourigny on Nick Schmaltz pic.twitter.com/o6YExgZg3Z

Connor McDavid’s 11 assists helped him lead the Oilers with 12 points this season. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (5 goals, 6 assists) and Leon Draisaitl (7 goals, 4 assists) trail with 11 points each.
Calvin Pickard (2-1, 4 starts) and Stuart Skinner (2-3, 6 starts) have almost evenly split the goal-tending starts after a tumultuous end to their playoff run in the spring.
Mammoth stampede to league’s best record through ten games
Nick Schmaltz has come out of nowhere to lead the league with 16 points through ten games. His seven goals are fourth in the NHL, with all seven coming in a five-game stretch between October 17 and October 23.
The tenth-year forward netted a hat-trick in a win over San Jose, beginning a streak of games in which he scored 13 points in a six-game span.
Schmaltz hasn’t been carrying the offensive load alone, as he is one of four Mammoth skaters averaging more than a point per game this season.
Can we talk about how insane Nick Schmaltz is playing right now? 👀

Linemate and Utah captain Clayton Keller is tied with five players league-wide with 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists).
Third-year winger Logan Cooley wouldn’t be outdone by Schmaltz’s hat-trick, netting a natural hatty of his own just days later. The smooth-skating, sweet-shooting Cooley has seven goals and scored eight points in Utah’s past three games.
Dylan Guenther rounds out the quarter with 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) and is tied with Carolina’s Seth Jarvis for the league lead in game-winning goals with four.
