A Red Wings prospect is expected to be called up from the Grand Rapids Griffins after another young player got injured.
Indeed, the Wings decided to send down Michael Brandsegg-Nygård to the AHL earlier this week, and most expected to see Carter Mazur get called up to replace him.

With Carter Mazur injured and MBN sent down, the Wings could use some reinforcements, and the best option is clear: Nate Danielson.
The player, who would’ve likely made the team after a great training camp if he hadn’t gotten injured in the preseason, is next in line to get called up to the NHL.
Last night, the 21-year-old forward scored a goal-his third point in two games this season.

With Mazur out, Danielson is the obvious choice to get called up to the NHL by Yzerman.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Wings’ ninth overall pick in 2023 playing his first NHL game soon, especially with Patrick Kane still on injured reserve.
