The battle for the sixth defenseman spot continues to stir conversation within the Montreal Canadiens.

Up until last night, Struble seemed to have clearly surpassed “The Sheriff.” Just one game earlier, Xhekaj had been benched and saw only six minutes of ice time – a sign his spot was in real danger.

However, the game in Seattle may have changed things…

First, Struble drew attention for the wrong reasons – taking a bad penalty:

That penalty directly allowed the Kraken to start their comeback…

Meanwhile, Arber Xhekaj had a much better game and continued to prove his value!

A moment that shows just how essential Arber Xhekaj is to the Montreal Canadiens

It really makes you think – and it will surely make Martin St-Louis and his staff think as well.

When Kirby Dach was in trouble, surrounded by three Kraken players, who immediately stepped in to help him?

As soon as Xhekaj arrived, the Kraken players immediately backed off!

That’s the power of Arber Xhekaj – and that’s what makes him so unique!

Martin St-Louis responded right away by rewarding Xhekaj with three consecutive shifts.
