The new NHL season is off and running, with multiple teams looking to take home the Stanley Cup title. Even teams that many people didn’t expect to be good have found success early in the season, and it has led to all sorts of parity around the league.
All the trade rumors from the summer have quieted down, but in the next few weeks and months, they could come roaring back. One of the most talked-about teams this offseason was the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have been rumored to be discussing different trades across the league.
The Penguins have wanted to get younger, and this could see them move on from some veteran players. One of these players is Rickard Rakell, who has expressed a desire to remain with the team.
But in the end, the Penguins do have all the power in what happened here. The front office will do what is best for the team, even if that means trading away Rakell.
Last season with the Penguins, Rakell put up 35 goals and 35 assists over 81 games played in the regular season. The veteran can still produce at a high level, and he would be a steal for any team around the league to trade for.
As the year goes on, the Penguins will have to figure out a path forward. But it remains to be seen how the team will go about looking to deal players like Rakell at one point.
This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

One option for the Penguins could be the Seattle Kraken as a trade partner. Rakell could be the missing piece to this team, and he would add another dimension to this Seattle offensive attack.
Seattle has started the new season out well, but they could use another piece or two to really push them ahead. After missing the playoffs over the past two years, this Kraken franchise has been trying to get itself back into the mix.
The Kraken have missed the playoffs in three of the four seasons that they have been a team, so the pressure is on. Adding someone like Rakell could do wonders, and he has the ability to be a game-changer for them.
Due to his ability to score the puck with consistency and ease, Rakell could help push them into the playoffs. And once there, anything is possible for this Kraken franchise.
Seattle wants to get faster, and even with Rakell being a veteran, he can help them with this plan. Rakell can be a legit threat for this team, adding to the other talented guys on the roster.
More teams than ever believe that they can go after a title this season, with the Kraken being one of them. This could see multiple bidding wars break out at the trade deadline.
Players like Rakell will likely cost teams a lot in a trade, but it could be more than worth it. The Kraken should do whatever it can to land him if he is truly made available on the trade front.
