With the Vancouver Canucks desperate for some top 6 forward talent and their options wearing thin, recent rumours suggest they have turned their attention toward Steven Stamkos of the Nashville Predators.

“Hughes, 26, wasn’t having the greatest of starts to the 2025-26 campaign, fueling speculation prior to Sunday that he was dealing with some sort of injury, which has now been revealed as a lower-body issue.”-Jaxon

Canucks target Stamkos as their forward situation becomes even worse.

Vancouver hockey insider Rick Dhaliwal sparked buzz on Thursday after posting on X that the Canucks have a recent interest in Stamkos. There have not been any official talks confirmed as of yet, the rumours are quickly garnering a lot of attention.

“Dhaliwal said someone told him Canucks are poking around on Stamkos.

Stamkos is nearing the end of his career at 35 years old, and he isn’t performing well at all in Nashville only scoring 2 points in 11 games and a -5 rating, he is a shell of his former self. But the Canucks are running out of options and a change scenery could spark the last little bit of hockey Stamkos has left in him.

While there is no solid evidence of trade talks between the Canucks and the Predators to pursue Stamkos, rumours can always spark interest from the fans all the way up to the head office, and we may see Stamkos wearing the blue and green eventually this season.
