No. 6 Penn State continues to prove why it’s one of the top programs in the country as it heads into a midseason series against Robert Morris at 3 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streaming on FloHockey.

The Nittany Lions have powered their way to a 10-0 record, averaging nearly five goals per game.

A key part of Penn State’s balanced offense has been freshman forward Matilde Fantin, who has become one of the team’s most reliable two-way players. Through 10 games, Fantin has totaled five goals and seven assists with a plus-13 rating, consistently creating plays in transition and applying pressure on opposing defenses. Her awareness around the net and strong skating have helped extend possessions and open up scoring chances for her teammates.

Senior forward Katelyn Roberts is also making a major impact in goals and total shots. Roberts has been a driving force on the attack, showcasing her ability to finish in tight spaces and deliver in key moments. Her two game-winning goals this season highlight her clutch performance, and her consistent presence in the offensive zone has set the tone for Penn State’s forward group.

Robert Morris enters the matchup at 5-5 overall and 3-1 in conference play, aiming to pull off an upset against one of the most complete teams in the AHA. The Colonials are led by forwards Jessica MacKinnon and Morgan Giannone, who have combined for 22 points through the first 10 games. MacKinnon’s quick release and strong positioning make her a constant scoring threat, while Giannone’s playmaking ability has fueled much of Robert Morris’ offense.

Robert Morris has proven it can generate offense, averaging 2.6 goals per game, but consistency has been a challenge. The Colonials will need a strong defensive effort to slow down Penn State’s top scorers and a standout performance in net to contain a team that thrives on second-chance opportunities.

Penn State’s success has also come from its ability to control tempo and dominate puck possession. The Nittany Lions have shown strong chemistry across all four lines, using quick puck movement and smart zone entries to wear down opponents. Their depth allows them to maintain pressure late in games, often turning defensive stops into fast-break chances.

As the schedule grows more competitive, continuing that consistent, high-paced style will be key. Against a Robert Morris team known for its physical play and energy, Penn State’s poise and structure could once again make the difference in securing another weekend sweep.

For Penn State, this weekend’s series is another chance to keep building momentum at the midpoint of the season. With the team performing well in all areas, the blue and white will aim to stay steady as the season moves deeper into the conference play.
